CYFPW football teams and cheer squads will start practicing in early August. Each team will be assigned a lighted practice field at one of the following City of Chandler parks:
Team field assignments will be determined by mid-to-late July. Once fields are assigned, each team will typically practice on that same field the entire season (i.e., they will NOT hop around to different fields every week).
The entire 1st week of football practice is focused on conditioning and CYFPW requires that every child put in 10 hours of conditioning before contact drills can start. During this first week, your child should wear a t-shirt, shorts, socks and cleats. Your child may be asked to wear their helmet during the 1st week to get accustomed to running with it on. Your child may also be asked to wear some or all their equipment later in the 1st week of practice for the same reason. Contact drills start the 2nd week of practice after participants complete their 10 hours of conditioning.
For the first three weeks, practices are typically Monday through Thursday in the evenings. Beginning the fourth week, practices are typically two days per week, either Monday & Wednesday -OR- Tuesday & Thursday. Head coaches have the option of adding a film study session -OR- Friday walk-through session.
If you have more than one child participating in CYFPW, you can apply for a "sibling hardship." If granted, your children will be assigned to teams that practice in the same general location so that you don't have to drop-off and pick-up at multiple locations that are far from each other. Please note that "sibling hardships" must be requested in writing and are NOT guaranteed. Sibling hardship requests must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org with subject line, "Sibling Hardship Request."
